EPISODE 02
Power, Love... Respect
Time for a New Paradigm
For years, in the world of branding, there has been talk of Power Brands: dominant brands that shaped the market thanks to their economic clout, their visibility, and their ability to set trends and dictate habits. Power was the measure of success: greater presence, higher sales, more control. Today, this definition makes us feel uneasy. The idea of ‘power’ frightens and annoys us.
Then came the Love Brands. It was no longer enough to be strong; you had to be loved. Brands began to make themselves more approachable, in their language and attitude; they began to seek a connection with consumers. But, over time, this model too has shown its limitations: what once seemed authentic now appears forced, artificial, even manipulative.
So today we ask ourselves: what is the new foundation for a solid and credible relationship between a brand and people?
It is no longer a question of imposing through power, nor of seducing through love.
I believe the word Respect is something worth reflecting on. Respect for people. Respect for value. Respect for the planet…Behind the word ‘respect’ lies a different kind of energy: there is authenticity, there is ethics, there is commitment.
A brand that builds relationships based on respect is more credible; it fosters deep, lasting bonds that go beyond a single purchase, creating a sense of belonging, value and, ultimately, trust. And perhaps, with trust, greater loyalty too.
